At just nine years old, Riley from Hawaii has already shown more strength and resilience than most people do in a lifetime.
Riley was born with a rare and complex congenital heart defect. According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, congenital heart defects occur when the heart or blood vessels near the heart do not develop normally before birth, often requiring ongoing specialized care and multiple surgeries throughout childhood. For Riley, this meant a diagnosis so severe that her family’s local hospitals could not provide the advanced treatment she needed.
The expertise she required was more than 2,400 miles away at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in California. But reaching it felt nearly impossible.
“We wanted the best for her,” Riley’s mom shared. “But financially, booking a flight was overwhelming. I didn’t know how we were going to do it.”

“She’s doing great,” her mom said with a smile. “She’s ready to get back to her daily life.”
For Riley, that means simply being a kid again, laughing, learning, and dreaming of a future no longer defined by her condition. For her mother, it means relief and a sense of peace of mind. “I’m so grateful. Miracle Flights lifted such a huge burden off my shoulders.
