From the moment Olivia entered the world in July 2023, she has been pure light. Born in New York, Olivia is known for her bright eyes, joyful laugh, and determined spirit. Olivia was born with Erb’s palsy, a type of brachial plexus injury that occurs when nerves controlling the arm and shoulder are damaged during birth. According to the Mayo Clinic, Erb’s palsy can limit movement, strength, and sensation in the affected arm, and often requires specialized therapy or surgical intervention to improve function.
For Olivia, milestones that many children reach easily required extra patience, persistence, and expert medical care. That care was not available close to home. As her family sought out specialists, frequent long-distance travel quickly became overwhelming, both emotionally and financially.
