Meet Bella

Miracle Story

Bella Hinton
At just 16 months old, little Bella from Georgia has already faced more than many do in a lifetime. Born with Vein of Galen Malformation (VOGM), a rare congenital blood vessel abnormality in the brain described by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) as a condition that can lead to heart failure, hydrocephalus, and neurological complications, Bella suffered a stroke at birth and was later diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
But to everyone who meets her, one truth stands out: Bella refuses to be defined by her diagnoses.
“She’s so strong, brave, and determined,” her mom shares. “Bella is the sweetest little fighter you’ll ever meet.”
Bella’s medical journey has taken her more than 1,000 miles from home to Boston Children’s Hospital for specialized, life-saving care. Every three months, her family travels for complex brain procedures, including six embolization surgeries so far, and each one brings her closer to stability and thriving.
But the emotional weight of constant travel came with another burden: the overwhelming cost of flights between Atlanta and Boston.
That is when Miracle Flights stepped in.
“Before Miracle Flights, traveling back and forth was going to be tough,” her mom says. “We’re so thankful they’ve helped take some of that stress away.”
Since receiving assistance, Bella’s progress has been nothing short of extraordinary. With her brain malformation now nearly closed and her heart function improving, she is taking courageous new steps in all areas of her development. Bella is learning to walk with physical therapy and to communicate with the support of speech therapy.
“She’s meeting milestones we never knew might happen,” her mom says. “We are so thankful.”
Every Miracle Flight Bella takes brings her one step closer to her best possible future. Her family calls Miracle Flights “amazing” and credits the organization with easing a burden no parent should carry alone.
“Having a medically fragile child is already stressful. The bills add up quickly. But Miracle Flights helps ease that burden. They truly care about helping children and families.”
Bella’s story is just one example of the thousands of brave children we help each year reach the medical care they need, no matter how far it is from home. With every mile, we are honored to be part of their journey.
