Meet Luna

Miracle Story

Luna of Las Vegas, Nevada, has faced more in her young life than most ever will. Diagnosed with an optic glioma brain tumor in May 2017, she has been traveling every three months to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she receives specialized oncology care and ongoing medical testing.
Now a third grader at Roger’s Elementary School, Luna is thriving in a general education classroom despite her visual impairment. She has learned to read and write entirely in Braille, keeping pace with her sighted classmates and proving that determination can overcome even the most challenging obstacles. Her resilience and positive outlook shine through in every aspect of her learning and life.
Luna is currently battling her third brain tumor. While the tumors are stable and showing no new growth, she continues to take chemotherapy pills. Her family remains hopeful that her medical team in Utah will provide the answers they need and, one day, deliver the news that Luna is cured.
Outside of her medical journey, Luna’s passions make her story even more remarkable. She has been studying piano for over a year, learning to play by listening carefully to each note, and recently joined her school’s choir. Never one to back down from a challenge, she also auditioned for the school dance team. When asked about the difficulty of learning routines without sight, Luna’s confident reply was, “I can still try.”
Her perseverance has not gone unnoticed. Last year, Luna was honored as Student of the Month, a recognition of her exceptional work ethic, optimism, and ability to inspire those around her. With her love of learning, her musical talents, and her unstoppable spirit, Luna continues to show that there are no limits to what she can achieve.
